Appointments

calendarNormal GP Surgery hours are from 08:00 to 18:00 Monday to Friday on a rota system. We also provide extended hours on Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 07:30. If you wish to make an appointment please contact our receptionists on 01382 228228. The receptionist will ask for your details and a brief description of your condition so they can offer you an appointment with the appropriate doctor or nurse.

Please remember that not all conditions will require that you need to be seen in person by a GP. Our nurses are able to treat a range of minor conditions. When requesting an appointment, our reception staff will ask you for a short description of your condition in order that we can provide you with the most suitable appointment.

Please note the following:

  • Appointments are for one patient only.
  • Please attend for your appointment on time. Patients who attend more than 10 minutes after the appointment time will not be seen.

GP Appointments

To book an appointment with a GP please contact the reception (via telephone or in person). Appointments are released on a daily basis and can be booked up to one week in advance when available.

We can also offer telephone consultations with our on-duty Triage GP. This may be suitable for you if you are looking for advice about medications, requesting a report, finding out about hospital results or letters or advice on treating simple ailments such as chickenpox, coughs, colds etc.

We ask patients to bear in mind that we can only offer a limited number of appointments each day and that once all our appointment slots are filled, our reception staff cannot offer any more. If you are unable to book an appointment yet feel you need to be seen on the same day, you may be offered a telephone consultation with a GP or nurse.

When requesting an appointment with a GP (whether a face-to-face or a telephone consultation) our reception staff have been trained to ask the nature of the request in order to allow us to offer the most suitable appointment. You do not have to provide a reason if you prefer not to, but this may mean that you are not given a suitable appointment or that your call back will be placed after those with more urgent requests.

Please note that repeat prescriptions cannot be requested during a consultation with a GP and should instead be submitted to reception using a re-order form (or via email or post).

Nurse Appointments

At Tay Court Surgery, our nurses are trained to deal with a range of minor illnesses and ailments (see below) and can also provide advice and information on various medical matters.

Nurse appointments are available from 08:00 to 18:00 Monday to Friday and can be booked by contacting reception.

  • Rashes
  • Eye infections
  • Minor injuries
  • Sore throats (for adults)
  • UTI's (in women)
  • Dressings

If you have been asked by a GP or nurse to attend the surgery in order to have blood tests done you do not need to book an appointment. Our healthcare assistant is available from 08:30 to 10:45, Monday to Friday. Please ask one of our receptionists who will be happy to help.

Cancellations

If you cannot attend an appointment for any reason please inform us as soon as possible in order for us to give the slot to someone else.
